Ugh
I consider myself to be in fairly good shape. I work out on a regular basis and do quite a bit of yoga, yet I'm still totally exhausted from the run I went on with L this morning. Even my knees are sore and that never happens! I so don't feel like doing any work for uni, but I guess I'll have to since the deadline is next week and I haven't even finished my first draft. Besides, I decided that this year, I wouldn't hand stuff in so late...Speaking of late, I have fanfic and a movie review to write, but first I'm going to check out Murder City. Although I'm already getting frustrated with the camera work and I've only seen five minutes of it so far :-/

It's been a hard couple of days
But today I'm feeling quite a bit better :-)

Dr. G. suggested some changes to my meds when I saw him last week, and while I wasn't too enthusiastic about messing around with things again, I must admit that it seems to be working. My head is much, much quieter, despite me being stressed out over an assignment for uni. It's been a while since I've studied the actual material and after a couple of days of doing hardly anything for uni (or anything else for that matter), I'm not finding it easy to get back into the subject. But with the deadline looming, I guess I have no choice but to get busy :-)

And on a random note: LaO was weird this week, but LaO SVU was much, much weirder. Did that make sense on any level?

Life Update

  • I'm officially behind on my studies

  • Work was a killer this week

  • Did I mention I'm just not good with kids?

  • I'm so very much behind on TV

  • Pay for first quarter of 2008 still hasn't arrived

  • yay - I'm sleeping again

  • Tried to watch Dexter after having heard a lot of positive comments, but somehow didn't get much further than the first ten minutes

  • it's never a good idea to go and lie down during to commercial break

  • finally found printer paper that I can actually afford

  • orkos delivery for this week is nowhere to be seen so far, but my books arrived in record time

  • I have written a ton of fanfiction, but I can't seem to be bother to edit any of it

I'm sure there is more. I wish I could just relax and catch up on TV this weekend, but I really need to catch up on uni work.

Tired
Somehow, despite add meds and caffeine, I haven't managed to really wake up yet today. Since it really wasn't a late night last night - all I did was go to group and to bed pretty much soon after returning. I was somewhat rudely woken by L (the one with the report) just before 7 a.m. this morning because she needed me to print out an essay. When I asked her why she hadn't done that the previous night at some of the public printers, she admitted that she couldn't figure it out (I installed OpenOffice on her new laptop and she apparently didn't know which format to save it under). I asked her why she didn't ask me about it yesterday afternoon or yesterday evening, but she was right in that I was asleep during the former and out for the latter. Apparently I'm harder to get hold of than I thought :-) I have been very tired the last few days. At first, with my meds all in a mess, I couldn't sleep at all, now I can't seem to stay awake for more than a few hours at a stretch.

Question for the native speakers
What is the difference between disoriented and disorientated? I've seen/heard both used, but I can't seem to figure out when to use which.

What the prospect of a free morning can do for you
Can't say that I felt much better after the night, but I've decide to take the morning off. After making that decision, I went back to bed and since getting up again, I already feel a lot better :-) I wish I could stay in all day, but I have to fetch my 'scripts, go to the pharmacy and then pick up some food as well. Will see about how much I feel up to this afternoon when I get back.

My dear meds )

It all seems impossibly much at the moment, but I'm sure that after getting some sleep and getting back on all my meds, I'll feel better again.

Icon Meme
1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!

1.

My current favourite icon (and my default icon at the moment). I have no idea who made this icon or who the person in the icon is for that matter, but I like it because a) it's all bright and colourful and b)it's LA ;-) Also and that might sound weird, I have a soft spot for icons that don't show faces. Weird, I know.

2.

My 'when life hands you lemons' and 'when life sucks' icon. For some reason this always makes me think of Rodney McKay (SGA) and his fabled citrus-allergy.

3.

From the movie Get Down aka Treed Murray. This was my default icon for quite a long time, fitting my usually down/dark mood at the time. Strangely, I've never been able to make out to text on the icon. Ideas, anyone?

4.

From Numb3rs. Much underused 'appreciating the little things in life' icon.

5.

From Doctor Who. A 'silver-lining' icon. Should use that more often as well. Plus I love the episode this icon is from.

Maybe it's because I don't like change
But at any rate, I'm finding Windows Vista to be extremely annoying and unpleasant to work with. I don't have it on my laptop, but I've been helping L (the one with the report) set up her newly bought laptop. I can find my way around it, but somehow, it 'thinks' too much, or tried to at any rate. Leland IV is getting old (with the DVD-drive and soundcard already being busted) and I'm honestly thinking about getting a mac next. But I did find a very nice (and purple) theme for my laptop while helping L with hers :-)

Curse, you ff.net
At first I just thought I was reading a story written by an idiot author as it was a trainwreck in more ways than just lacking scene breaks. But it turns out that the latter wasn't their fault. FF.net erased all character based scene breaks, making everyone look like an idiot who shouldn't be posting on the internet. Only they horizontal line feature can now be used to a scene break. Now I've got to go through all of my stories and put the scene breaks back in! FF.net I hate you today.

I'm usually the last one to know anything...
Apparently there is now Safari for windows?! Anyone tried it? I have to admit that it looks pretty cool and it seems to be indeed loading pages pretty fast. I normally use Opera, but some of the pages I use more often don't work with it (and my lj-layout doesn't look right with it either)

Also, I think I'm in love with Urban Gothic. Random, I know.

Yay, break week is upon us!
The work-week ended on a fairly satisfying note yesterday. I've finished and submitted the assignment that's due early next month already, I've been to the gym, paid phone and grocery bills and started to do some spring cleaning. I could have done worse, all in all. As for my plans for the break week, I'm not going anywhere and will probably spend the week holed up in my place in front of the laptop, catching up and TV and fic writing, hopefully with a couple of trips to the gym thrown in.

On an unrelated note, I'm very pleased to noticed that my effort to improve my French language skills are starting to pay off. Last night I got out the very first French-only DVD I've ever bought (Les Rivières Pourpres) and watched it for the first time in years - and I understood pretty much everything! I think it's time to get some French novels, preferably from the library, since I can't really afford to buy any books right now. They should have at least some of the classics. Otherwise, I've re-discovered the foreign language sections on ff.net. I knew they existed since I've posted some fic there ages ago, but I'd never thought of them as a source for reading material for vocabulary building. If it weren't for the net!speak that would work out very well ;-)

It's not been a good day so far
Bro crashed his car this morning on the motorway- he's fine, but the car is probably totaled - a tire burst (does that just happen?!) and he hit the guard rail at the side of the road. We don't really have the money for a new car right now and he needs one to get to work. My father can't work at the moment because of an injury last fall and my pay doesn't even cover my tuition fees. At least Bro's got a scholarship. I had no idea how to pay for my summer courses before, but now I don't know if I can take any at all this summer :-/

So, not a good day, but the good (and important) thing is that Bro's all right.

While it seems that everyone is upset about recent lj developments
I'm being entirely self-centered once again by not caring. It's like that with a lot of things - I don't have the energy and/or mental space to be opinionated. I'm busy taking it one day at a time ;-) Especially, and I know everyone is going to disagree with me on this one, when it comes to such (comparatively) small issues.

Feeling better than a few days ago, although I'm still a bit off-center. I doubt I did very well on the assignment that was due today (already found one mistake after submitting it), but all I need is a pass for this course, the grade itself doesn't count towards my degree. Now all I need to do is finish my S342 assignment and make it through the rest of the week. Then, finally, break week. I already have a long, long list of things I want/need to get done during that time, but I'm trying to get at least some of those things done this week so it won't seem like such a big pile :-/

Down
Somehow, things aren't right anymore. Since Wednesday to be precise. I have no idea what happened, aside from me getting very stressed out, but that's not that unusual. But since then, everything is somehow wrong. I can't sleep, I can't think and nothing seems remotely interesting or worth doing. I think that's called being depressed, but I have been depressed and at least for me that's felt very different. So I have no idea what my mind is up to now.

I'm actually amazed that I got anything at all done the last few days.

And yeah, rl has been a bit of a disappointment too last week. The trip I'd organized as a present for my sister's birthday (she wanted to go to a festival with her best friend) fell through because she doesn't get along with her best friend at the moment. I put quite a bit of time and money into that present. I'm confused about my assignment for this week and I can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone. Does help that it is the weekend :-/
