I think I did a similar one before but I don't want to work
stolen from eolivet

1. When did you start watching?
When I first came to England, so around 2003.

1a. Why?
My lab partner at the time was very into the show and eventually I gave in and gave it a whirl.

2. What was your first episode?
'The City of Death' - still one of my faves.

3. Which episodes have you seen?
Almost all, except some of the first and second Doctor episodes. I found some of them pretty tedious.

3a. Favourite?
'The Mind of Evil'

4. Are your friends/family interested in the show?
Nope. Tried to get Bro into it, but Pro7 axed the show after only six episodes.

5. Which Doctor is your favourite?
Uhm, five or three, I'm not sure.

6. Which Doctor is your least favourite?
Eight, but since that is only based on that horrible movie, I guess I like the second Doctor least.

7. Which TV companion is your favourite?
Romana II.

8. Which TV companion is your least favourite?
Adric gets the vote for least likable, while Kamelion gets the vote for most pointless.

9. Do you listen to the Big Finish audios?
Yes. I've still a lot of them to get through, but I do like them.

9a. If so, which is your favourite?
The Eye of the Scorpion.

9b. Also: which Big Finish companion is your favourite?
Evelyn

10. Have you listened to any non-Big Finish audios?
Some, I especially like 'Paradise of Death'.

11. Have you read any of the novels or short stories?
Some. Can't say that I liked them very much.

11a. Have you written any of the novels or short stories?
Uhm, no.

11b. Which is your favourite?
Not sure.

12. Have you read any of the comics?
No.

13. Do you watch any of the spinoffs (e.g. Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures)?
Torchwood.

13a. Which is your favourite?
see above

14. Is there any particular episode/book/audio/comic you desperately want to watch/listen to/read?
None in particular, but there are some BF audios that I want to listen to when I find the time.

Fandom

1. Do you write fanfic for Doctor Who?
Yes.

1a. If so, post a snippet of a work-in-progress (or several)!
Definitely not.

2. Do you create Doctor Who icons?
Yes, a few.

2a. Let's see a sample!
Uhm, see this post's icon.

3. Recommend a fanfic/icon/fanvid/fancomic/fancreation!
emeryboard's 'When you are evil' I can find the url if anyone really wants to see it.

4. Have you been to any Doctor Who conventions?
No.

5. Have you ever dressed up as a Doctor Who character?
No.

6. Do you own any Doctor Who merchandise?
No.

7. Are you a fan of Russell T Davies?
Oh, I'm bad with writers. I don't know.

7a. Steven Moffat?
see above

7b. Paul Cornell?
see above

8. What say you to Season 6b?
Names, numbers...which one was that again? ;-)

9. The UNIT dating controversy?
I don't really care.

10. The Blinovitch Limitation effect?
Not sure where that comes in at the moment.

11. Multi-Doctor episodes?
Oh, yes.

12. What's your favourite Doctor Who technobabble?
Not sure.

13. Have you watched other TV shows exclusively because of the presence of Doctor Who actors?
No.

14. Have you met any of the actors?
Heh. No.

14a. Travelled to any filming locations?
No.

15. What do you think of The Curse of Fatal Death?
The title has been the source of much amusement on my part, but that's about all.

16. Do you have any fannish opinions that you think are fairly unpopular?
Considering that I'm not really in the fandom, I wouldn't know which opinions those are.

17. What's your favourite pairing?
I'm a gen!girl all the way.

18. What pairing(s) won't you touch with a really long pole?
I don't know, I try to avoid the 'shippy stuff entirely.

Ooh, OK -- a newbie question to an expert: could you explain to me what season 6b, the UNIT dating controversy, the Blinovitch Limitation effect and the curse of the fatal death are? :)

Okay, I'll give it a try.

There are a lot of resources on the web dedicated to Doctor Who (even wikipedia has loads of stuff on the show) that could explain all this a lot better. But on with it!

Season 6b: Basically since the regeneration from the 2nd Doctor to the 3rd wasn't shown on screen (almost all others) and there were a number of continuity problems (mainly raised in 'The Three Doctors' (1st, 2nd and 3rd Doctor), 'The Two Doctors' (2nd and 6th Doctor) and 'The Five Doctors' (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th Doctor) that lead to the fanon theory of events happening between the episodes 'War Games' and 'Spearhead from Space' (hope I got the episode names right there) that would explain those discrepancies.

UNIT Dating Controversy: UNIT was an organization the Doctor worked for during his exile on Earth (the 3rd Doctor mainly was involved with UNIT while he was essentially stuck on Earth). UNIT did deal with some political stuff and it was never made clear if the events involving UNIT happened during the time the episodes were broadcast or in the future. Basically boring nitpicking, IMHO.

Blinovitch Limitation Effect: Not entirely clear on that myself, but it was used as 'scientific' explanation for the workings of time travel. As for its relation to real physics, I don't really know. Physics has never been a strong subject of mine ;-) I think it is mentioned, although it might have been introduced earlier, in 'Mawdryn Undead' (5th Doctor)

Curse Of The Fatal Death: Red Nose Charity special. It was intended as a parody, although I didn't find it funny (and apparently so do some other fans). It starred a variety of people as the Doctor, including Rowan Atkinson and Hugh Grant. I think it dates from around 1999, but definitely before the new series. Anyways, the title was about the only thing that amused me ;-)

I hope I have managed to clear up some things without spoiling too much. As I said, there is loads of stuff on the web. My favourite guide to most things Whovian, including detailed summaries of all episodes, BF Audios and novel/short stories can be found at http://www.drwhoguide.com/
I can't imagine how much time has gone into that site.

BTW, if you want to see some of the previous Doctors' episodes, just ask me...

Thank you so much! I know I could go on Wikipedia, but sometimes, that gives me waaaay too much information, and I'd rather hear it from a fellow fan. :D For reasons like this:

it was used as 'scientific' explanation for the workings of time travel.

Wikipedia would probably go into so much detail, I'd end up being more confused in the end. ;)

(Hee, Hugh Grant was a Doctor? How...random! It's definitely a funny title, though. :)

Thanks for the link and the very generous offer. :) I have to think about the earlier seasons -- so much of my DW enjoyment has come from Russell T. Davies' interpretation of it, so... ;) But I really appreciate the offer all the same. :D

I really have to get round to doing this at some point. Prolly during Design -I've completely given up on understanding half the stuff my mumbler-for-a-teacher says ;p

Out of interest, have you seen Curse of the Fatal Death?

I apologise for not having a brain. My all-time favourite parody is "Do You Have a License to Save This Planet?" I have no idea why, but I loves it.

Also Blinovitch Limitation Effect! SQUEEE!
