Maybe it's because I don't like change
But at any rate, I'm finding Windows Vista to be extremely annoying and unpleasant to work with. I don't have it on my laptop, but I've been helping L (the one with the report) set up her newly bought laptop. I can find my way around it, but somehow, it 'thinks' too much, or tried to at any rate. Leland IV is getting old (with the DVD-drive and soundcard already being busted) and I'm honestly thinking about getting a mac next. But I did find a very nice (and purple) theme for my laptop while helping L with hers :-)

Curse, you ff.net
At first I just thought I was reading a story written by an idiot author as it was a trainwreck in more ways than just lacking scene breaks. But it turns out that the latter wasn't their fault. FF.net erased all character based scene breaks, making everyone look like an idiot who shouldn't be posting on the internet. Only they horizontal line feature can now be used to a scene break. Now I've got to go through all of my stories and put the scene breaks back in! FF.net I hate you today.

I'm usually the last one to know anything...
Apparently there is now Safari for windows?! Anyone tried it? I have to admit that it looks pretty cool and it seems to be indeed loading pages pretty fast. I normally use Opera, but some of the pages I use more often don't work with it (and my lj-layout doesn't look right with it either)

Also, I think I'm in love with Urban Gothic. Random, I know.

Invites give-away
I posted this a couple of months ago, but seeing that there are some new people on my f-list, I'm asking again. Anyone want and invite to The Box?

The Box is a evil download torrent site, specializing in British TV and radio programmes. Comment if you want an invite :-)

How did anyone ever get anything done...
...before there were computers?

My access to the internet and to computers has been very sporadic the last few days. L is still writing her report on my laptop and it seems like she has managed not only to wreck WORD, but also to mess up my firewall :-( The deadline for her report has been moved back a few days, but I don't think I was very subtle when I stressed that I expect to have the laptop to myself again on Monday.

No laptop also means (mostly) no fic, no movies on DVD and no TV. I did write a short SGA piece based on a prompt that was posted to a mailing list and will post to my fic journal once I get things sorted.

Also, I have a headache that could turn into a migraine and it wouldn't be the first this week. All ín all, I had better weeks than this one. I think I'm going to lie down now.

Invites :-)
Okay, this is a bit of a long shot, but does anyone happen to have an invite to

bitme, learnbits or elbitz

and wouldn't mind giving me one?

The only thing I have to offer is are invites to thebox (British TV and radio) and diwana (Australian TV)

Neat tool for ff.net readers
I'm probably not to only one who likes to print out their fanfic to read off-line and since the copy-n-pasting from ff.net was getting tedious, I did some googling on the subject and found the Fanfiction Downloader which automatically saves all available chapters of a story to a single document when you provide the story ID.
