It's this time of the year again - nasty comments about popular TV - flame ahead!
The TV fall season is coming around and I fail to be excieted. I'm confused at the most. TV currently doesn't rate very high on the Illman-scale of priorities. But loving lists, I made one anyway this season:

TV-(fandoms - as in so far that I read fic on occassion):
Stargate SG1 - mainly because I've been watching since the beginning
Stargate Atlantis - mainly because I like it
Without a Trace - mainly because I still long for 1st season goodness and because Bait rocked

Comicbook(fandom - not, there is no readable fic):

The questionables:
CSI - Grissom is a inept would-be-genius and he isn't even ammusing at that, Sara is immature, Nick's too dumb to have his job (well so is General!Jack, but he has smart people around himself to make up for it)
CSI:M - Horatio balds and lead and leads some more without ever working. He saves the day every time. Everyone is hotter and wears less than in Vegas.
CSI:NY - never seen it, (missed the x-over too) but I can't see the appeal of Gary Sinise(?)
The Dead Zone: I saw an ep as a favour to someone - is this even still on? If so which night of the week?
JoA - great idea for a show, but for me, it didn't progress enough later on, made me want to yell at the screen for Joan to finally get a brain in the late first season. She is too stupid for a realistic teen.
The various LaOs - mainly formualic entertainment with replacable characters, it's not bad though
24 and Alias - will see in January. It should be Crossing Jordan Time then as well, if that didn't get cancelled. I'll take Crossing Jordan over CSI any day.

If anyone has a watchworty show to point out feel free to do so!

"Rescue Me." :D

Ooh, ooh! I second this. Also, Nip/Tuck.

The only tv shows I watch now that I'm at school are the two Stargate series, two daytime soaps (when I have the chance), and nightly MASH reruns.

Have you ever given Buffy a try? I really like it. It seems silly, the premise, but it's actually very smart and funny.

I think the Dead Zone is still on. It was over the summer anyway, its same old Sunday timeslot. (I lost interest after the first season, but it was on after The 4400, which I loved. After The 4400 finale, DZ took something like a 25% dip in its ratings, losing one million viewers in a week. Heh.)

Never seen Buffy. To be honest, I always thought it was the kind of show that my little sister would watch. She watches Charmed, Smallville and the like. Not that I haven't watched that at some point ;) But I have Buffy on streamload, so I'll check it out. Thanks for the info on the Dead Zone, I'll keep an eye out for the torrent. One question and this might sound stupid: what does the text 'OT3' in your icon mean?
Amber: sheppard/beer/gun ot3! (xshinsei).minttown1 on September 24th, 2004 02:03 am (UTC)
Oh. Um, OTP is a fandom expression referring to One True Pairing. For example, a lot of people's CSI OTP was/is Grissom/Sara. OT3 refers to One True Threesome. An example would be that people in the HP fandom think of Harry/Ron/Hermione or James/Remus/Sirius as their OTP. This icon (made by adalanth) is playing off of that term, referring to Shep and his love of beer and guns, I guess.

If that made no sense, I can try to clarify, but as my English teacher is about to find out when I hand this paper in today, clarification is not my strength. ;)
Illmanillman on September 24th, 2004 02:19 am (UTC)
Ahh, I think I get it. After like the third reading when I finally picked up that you wrote Shep and not Sheep (I kept wondering what sheepmobile had to do with it all...)
Two questions: I checked out your user profile randomly earlier, I saw you listed Tycho Brahe. How come he made your list?
And what are you doing in an English class, I thought you were a Physics whizz?
Amberminttown1 on September 24th, 2004 02:33 am (UTC)
Tycho! Hee. Um, in tenth grade, American history, we chose underdogs of American history and called them our Heroes of American History, people like Eugene Debs and Daniel Webster and other random people who never really succeeded. And the next year, in European history, Tycho Brahe was the first person to really jump out at me as an underdog. The social isolation, the lack of a nose... Also, I have all sort of affection for the early scientists who tried so hard to figure things out and still got some of it wrong.

Everyone has to take the College Writing Seminar, a one-semester course to improve our ability to write a good college-level paper. It's very boring. :P Hopefully, I'll improve and learn some things, though.
Illmanillman on September 24th, 2004 02:49 am (UTC)
Mandatory writing seminar, man, that's harsh! It's not like you write that eloquently phrased many papers in Physics. Most of that will be calculations and expriments to proof your theories anyways. Well, well, as long as you have some fun.

I know Tycho from a lovely high school subject know as theory of knowledge, it was some history of science, some philosophy, some logic.
I have always been most fascinated by the Ancient Greek scientists/philosophers. They had some wild theories about elements, but they were right with some many things. They thought up the atom without ever being able to prove it, that just amazes me. Just as amazing how Europe could then forget again.
Amberminttown1 on September 24th, 2004 04:43 pm (UTC)
Theory of Knowledge sounds so, so cool.

NCIS is highly entertaining. :) I also recommend "The 4400" (USA) -- there were only 5 or 6 episodes, but it was a fascinating premise and really well-done. :D

If you've seen either of these, I apologize.
Illmanillman on September 24th, 2004 12:34 am (UTC)
NCIS, I have seen but couldn't get into. The 4400 I haven't seen, but I might check it out. It should be on streamload :)
Amberminttown1 on September 24th, 2004 04:44 pm (UTC)
I'd check it out, if you have the time. :)
planbee on September 23rd, 2004 08:11 am (UTC)
Do you mean Crossing Jordan airing over there? Because the 4th season premiere in the US starts this Sunday, in just 3 days. They will have a crossover with Las Vegas this year. Have you ever watched that?
Illmanillman on September 23rd, 2004 11:26 am (UTC)
No, I was actually talking about Crossing Jordan over in US. I thought it was going to be like last season. I'm thrilled to hear that it will be starting soon. I have never watched Las Vegas, Is it a crime themed show?
planbee on September 23rd, 2004 11:51 am (UTC)
Las Vegas is half crime, half fun. It's set in a Vegas casino and the security team watches out for cheats and scams. It just started it's second season.

To get the best impression of the show you should check out episode 1x22, the HDTV-LOL AVI version. Then the season cliffhanger on 1x23 can quickly put you into the new season 2 episodes. An easy link is this torrent site:

It really is fun. And shiny. And the girl dating Enrique Murciano (Molly Sims) is there. And they have Elvis for theme music. It doesn't get any better.

If you're looking for a breath of fresh air and fun in TV crime shows, this is it.

:O did you just say Joan was stupid!?

:O...I'm surprised...considering you were in a JOA Roleplay community...:S
Illmanillman on September 23rd, 2004 08:39 pm (UTC)
No I like the show and the characters, Just as Joan develiped through the season in her her relktionships with God, with Adam and as the storyline prorgressed, I think that Joan stayed immature and surprinsingly irrationational for a 16/17 year old. That side of her development has been missed, IMHO.
