NaNoWriMo Day 12: Hitting The Wall

It's day 12 of NaNo and I feel like I've hit a wall with my story. I didn't plan a lot for my novel in advance but enough to get me going. Not only am I now getting to the bits that are lessed planned for, but also I realized that my 'novel' would finish at approx. 20,000 words if I didn't make some changes to the plot. Somehow, since then things just refuse to flow and the characters simply refuse to speak to me. I wrote about 350 words yesterday and have't done much more than 500 so far today, leaving my lagging slightly behind. I'm not far behind by any standards, but it's enough for me to feel like this might be one year I won't reach the finish line :-( I've failed NaNoWriMo before, but back then, it was more the circumstances that were to blame.I already didn't like last year's novel, even while I was writing it, and never finished editing the thing. All previous novel were edited and posted, even though some of them also sucked or at least made no real sense, to be honest. I'm not the type to quit once I've set my mind to something, but it's getting hard hard to care about my novel on any level. I know it's not good by any stretch, the plot is probably totally confusing and I have no clue about the historical period I'm writing about. Note to self: never, ever, write something historical again. Especially not for NaNoWriMo without doing any research at all.

So, enough whining. I'm going to watch the latest ep of Criminal Minds now and after that it's back to my novel. I want to get to 20,000 words today at the very least.
